I thought it was interesting to note that macfixit.com (I think that's who it was) gave the Apple Disk Utility an award for being one of the best utilities for OS-X last year. Norton, TechTool, Disk Warrior all have situations where they do something the others can't, but it seems that good ole Disk Utility can repair the widest variety of problems with the greatest success under OS-X. On the very few occasions that I've had to use a disk utility with OS-X, I seem to always try Disk Utility last and yet that's the one that's always resulted in a useful fix. And hey, the price is right...
