In following up on a complaint from one of their customers about two identical cameras producing different files they discovered that there were microscopic bubbles in the final coating of one camera, causing image softness.� They investigated further and found this to be the case in about 20% of DSLRs across all brands.
According to LS, the manufacturers have admitted that this is happening but are claiming that the cameras are still within the specifications of their quality control.�That doesn't lead me to believe the problem has been solved-- since the manufacturers are not calling it a problem.Has the problem of the varying quality of the chips been resolved...?
A friend of mine in UK, Peter Dean, is getting his Canon from LS. He seems to think he's getting a better deal that way.
