Hi Paul,

I posted this information in reference to the SAA buying program. The supplier is Linear Systems.

http://www.linear-systems.com

In following up on a complaint from one of their customers about two identical cameras producing different files they discovered that there were microscopic bubbles in the final coating of one camera, causing image softness. They investigated further and found this to be the case in about 20% of DSLRs across all brands.

Has the problem of the varying quality of the chips been resolved...?
According to LS, the manufacturers have admitted that this is happening but are claiming that the cameras are still within the specifications of their quality control. That doesn't lead me to believe the problem has been solved-- since the manufacturers are not calling it a problem.

A friend of mine in UK, Peter Dean, is getting his Canon from LS. He seems to think he's getting a better deal that way.

Kind regards,
Deborah Davis
