Hmm, there are no transformers in this room although I do have a couple of Italian plugged items going through adaptors such as the powered USB bus and it may well be worth changing, seeing as they don't cost much anyway.
I doubt if its the power supply as has been suggested as that would also effect the imac in theory which carries on without a problem despite being in the same room. My bet is that its the Wacom tablet, as this problem started up just after I purchased it and its never been connected to the imac. I was told by somebody to try placing the Wacom further away from the monitor to see if this makes any difference, so I am going to try this for a day or two to see if the problem reoccurs. Given that the degauss seems to improve matters a bit I tend to think that this is owed to some sort of magnetic build up rather anything else. Before leaving Italy, I called Lacie and they assured me that there would be no problems with the monitor as we use the same voltage setting and they produce just one PAL configuration for the whole of Europe. When I got here I had to change a lot of plugs and it may be that I put in a fuse with too high a rating, but I wonder if anybody knows what the correct fuse should be for the Lacie monitor? I think I have a 13 amp which may be causing the problems. All the other computer stuff seems to be working well with 5 or even 3 amp fuses, but I was told that the monitor required more power. This is one of those problems that can take ages to fix as you have to eliminate one potential cause at a time and then wait a day or so to see how it behaves before moving onto the next possibility.
