Hi All, I think the thing that's being missed here is that they want any scans to be the same dimensions as any digital camera file ...
so they'd be happy with a 60Mb scan, but unhappy with a 50Mb digital camera file ... I had arguments with their tech department (as i'm with this library too) which, it seemed to me was filled with complete anti-digital fundamentalist @&$&&'s as, for example, i was told that a file from a 6 mega pixl camera could not be enlarged any bigger than A5 (post card size). People might want to check out the link to Luminous Landscape's comparison between the 11MP 1Ds and 6x7 tranny which makes interesting reading - http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/shootout.shtml As another example, they will only accept files in sRGB (not just for viewing but because they believe that it produces a better photograph). Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i / we can get this situation changed as it makes no sense to me at all. I will be posting something similar on the AOP forum to see if anyone there has any suggestions. I'm meeting with the CD of the library on weds 5 Feb, so any help by then would be great.
