I just did some printing yesterday using SM inks and the Lyson supplied
profile. I wanted to print only the top left area of the image on an A4
sheet so turned off all the other layers. The printer printed the image, had
a good think, decided there was nothing to lay down in the transparent areas
and threw out the paper.

That's what I did. I converted to the profile before printing and then
selected Same as Source in the PwP dialog box in Photoshop and no ink was
laid in the transparent areas. Have I missed something?
