These softwares were developed to make panoramic images, and calculate distortion depending on the FOV of the lens used. Tiling is another animal, it's more like join scanned parts of a big original on a small flatbed - which brings not distortion. I used to do it successfully with Panavue Image Assembler, formerly Visual Stitcher, and files from my MegaVision S2 on a view camera. PIA is for Wintel boxes only. Another (very good) option is PTMac/PTGui/PTAssembler, the GUIs for Mr. Dersch's PanoTools.
