Dear Slater,

We are NOT anti-digital fundamentalist. We are just sick of getting digital
images from digital cameras. They are just NOT as good as a good scan. Not
yet! Wait for another year or two. Of course, in depends on the kind of
image you are after. I work for a very high quality magazine, and we are
scanning with a flatbeb Heidelberg F4100. Quality is incredible. We will
only accept incredible quality. And digital cameras are not there yet. We
are not fundamentalists, we've got a eye.

To all of you: STOP buying digital cameras. Just be patience!!

Consider that both parties have valid points to make.

If you are waiting for quality and don't want to be technically left behind: sure buy an affordable ppi-duster. Many of them suit certain levels of photographic requirements just fine. By the time it comes to upgrade you'll know why and what you want.

If you don't want to take any chances with new emerging technology, and quality you know and can predict is vital, then live within the proven parameters of the field. Film and drums still do things DCS cannot. Just as DCS can do several the other...etc, etc.

I simply believe to contest one as better than the other is to eliminate the more important elements: the photo itself and the person pushing the button. I pack both and use each to best suit their own purpose.

I imagine the true value is knowing when to use one or the other or both...
