Dear Mike, and prodigger"s > Is it actually on sale yet?
Yes! We had a demo of this beast two days ago, from MCSI (London), it was running on a very RAM hungry Mac, 2GB's worth to be precise, using beta software in OSX. However we were told it would still perform with less RAM, but accordingly a lot less speed as well. Burst rate for single shots was about 4 seconds between each capture, these are buffered into RAM so again lots of this helps before you have to stop and let your'e shots crunch out to your hard drive. As for the results, the jury is out while I take time to examine in detail the captures, compared to identical ones taken the day before on our "Volare". The strange thing is, I have been holding out for the next big thing in digital, not really looking too hard at 11MP/16MP devices, and was really expecting to be blown away with this one, but as a gut reaction It did not have the wow factor I was expecting, maybe as a hardened Dig user my expectations were unrealistic, but at this moment in time, yes it was a bit better than the Volare, but im' not sure it was 40K better (The back, new top spec Mac, sinarcam, P3 etc, etc) If anyone, especially existing Sinarback users would like to discuss further on or off list do not hesitate to contact.
