Hi all, Just to throw in more confusion to the high capacity storage we are needing these days - I'm wondering whether anyone has any news/thoughts on the supposed next generation of DVD storage 'Blue Laser DVD' or 'Blu Ray'. Currently DVD's are written/read by red laser - the blue laser is apparently much finer & able to store 20 - 25 Gigs on a disk. This technology has been talked about for a while - but as far as I know, nothing definite as far as release times, etc. Have also spotted (yes actually seen) another version of those portable hard drive aimed at the digital photographer. Called the 'Phototainer', it's a 20gig drive with a 3.5" colour LCD monitor - in a fold-out lap-top style form factor. Has USB 2.0 interface (no firewire), will take Compact Flash cards directly, & can zoom & scroll around images. This thing is made in Korea & on sale here in New Zealand - but I haven't seen any news of the item on any of the photographic websites I visit. Has anyone used one? Details (some) at http://innoplus.com It looks like a very useful item...but would be a dream item if it could be used tethered to a camera!!
