Hi

I'm not sure whether my post (Asking for any recommendations for 512M CF
card supplies) the other day was caught by too many peoples spam filters?
I'd expected more of a response, or is it that those of you who use big CF
cards all have far too much money to worry about minor pricing issues? :-))
:-))

Some current prices:
GBP exc. VAT
<http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listmodule.asp?module=CompactFlash&Attrib=P
ackage&cat=> 104
<http://www.scan.co.uk/products/flashmem.htm> 83
<http://www.shopmemorycard.co.uk/acatalog/Integral_Compact_Flash.html> 104

Does anyone have any knowledge of the Scan CF card? - it does seem very much
cheaper - is it really slow? (info says x10)

I did have a response (thanks) pointing me to IBM 1G microdrives, which are
better value per MB (~120 for 1G). I'd thought about these but still have a
few vague nagging doubts which I'd welcome any experiences on:

* Robustness - they have moving bits in them :-)) ...I'm not looking at
studio type use. Is it that once they're inside the camera, it's the camera
that will break first?

* Power consumption - how many extra sets of batteries will I need to lug
around? I'm often out for several hours between chances to recharge/pick up
fresh batteries

Perhaps I'm still unduly influenced by recollections of Sinclair Micro
Drives on the QL :-))

bye for now
