greetings: I'm on a mac G4 0SX trying to connect to an imac (print server) 0S9 through an ethernet cable and can't seem to get things to work.... With the G4 0S9 to the imac 0S9 no problems.... its 0SX thats giving me the problems..... actually thats just one of the 0SX problems, some days you wonder why you installed 0SX???? any help out there for my off topic 0SX problem? thanks Larry
It is something that you may have to persevere with. Getting an OS 9 and OS X machine to communicate can be a problem. It can be done and most users probably don't have any difficulty. You may want to update your router. When I first upgraded to OSX it took me ages to figure this one out for myself, but eventually (with some help from the prodig list) the Netgear security RO 318 router did the trick.
It may have something to do with the speed of your OS 9 machine. When I hook up from OS X to OS 9, I find it helps to be a little patient. Wait for the connected volume to show up in the list. Wait a few seconds as the little wheel at the bottom of the palette keeps spinning and then click on the listed volume, wait a few more seconds and click Connect. If you don't do this, you often get a timeout dialog counting down from 120 seconds and a failed to connect error.
