I think it sounds like it :-) First of all what type of profile is it that you have created? Is it a monitor profile or a printer profile? If a monitor, then that means you're monitor should now be calibrated and showing your colours correctly. It will have done nothing to improve the actual output of your prints. If you want to then make printer profiles you need to make one for each ink/paper combination and then use the respective profile for when you print onto that paper.
