I am using a Canon 1Ds and transferring the RAW files from 1GB microdrives to a Mac G4 OSX 10.2.3 using a Microtech firewire card reader.
Once every few hundred files one of the RAW files, when opened, is corrupted (normally half the image is missing or looks like it has been put through a channel mixer gone haywire. When I transfer the image again from the microdrive, it is fine. So there is something happening during the transfer process (and I'm not doing any other work on the computer while the files are transferring). This makes me somewhat anxious, as I normally only look at the RAW files based on clients' selection from contact sheets made from small JPEGS shot at the same time as the RAW files. By this time, of course, the microdrives have been wiped. So far, I've been lucky, but disaster is bound to strike. Does anyone have any experience of this, or any thoughts as to a solution? Many thanks. Richard Lewisohn =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
