I have had problems of possibly a similar nature downloading files from 1Ds. When loading RAW files into iview, and allowing iView to add a profile for the camera, it corrupts the RAW files which then become small TIFFs. Photoshop no longer sees them as RAW and fails to launch Camera Raw, and the file size goes down to 2-3Mbs. Could it be that your problem is related, and to do with assigning profiles? This is on G4, OSX 10.2.4.

I am using a Canon 1Ds and transferring the RAW files from 1GB microdrives

Once every few hundred files one of the RAW files, when opened, is corrupted
(normally half the image is missing or looks like it has been put through a
channel mixer gone haywire.

When I transfer the image again from the microdrive, it is fine. So there
is something happening during the transfer process (and I'm not doing any
other work on the computer while the files are transferring).

This makes me somewhat anxious, as I normally only look at the RAW files
based on clients' selection from contact sheets made from small JPEGS shot
at the same time as the RAW files. By this time, of course, the microdrives
have been wiped.

So far, I've been lucky, but disaster is bound to strike.

Does anyone have any experience of this, or any thoughts as to a solution?

Many thanks.
