Hi Richard, 

sounds a bit scary.It has yet to happen to me using the 1DS but I think in
future I will make a point of setting the camera to shoot RAW + large size
jpegs (opens to the same file size as processed RAW files) just to be
safe... although it slows down the camera and the additional storage is a
pain, its a small price to pay for peace of mind.

I find the  1DS quality jpegs pretty much indistinguishable from the
processed TIFFS anyway... does anyone have an informed opinion on what the
quality differential actually is between the two?
