Mapins do a 12v to 240 volt inverter (150watt) is about �25
 a 300watt is around �40

I have used one for years and charge my lap-top, batteries, and other kit
without problem.  As you say you'll have to run the engine for 10  minutes
every hour or (depending on your battery)
