One thing I would suggest is a second battery for your car. Get a big size "Leisure" battery and ask your friendly garage to fit a relay for charging. Same sort of circuit as a caravan or camper battery. The "Leisure" part of the description means it is not harmed by being run flat. As well as running a laptop all day plus re-charging several other power packs you won't need to run your engine every hour.

You can use it for plugging in a fridge for cold drinks too.

Hi everyone

I'm going to be shooting digitally for a day away from mains power but near
to a car. I'm hoping that the powerbook, camera, flash etc batteries will go
the distance, by as a back up I'd like to get a car DC to AC converter.
Apple sell one made by APC - does this mean it's any good?

Can anyone recommend this or any alternatives, or know of any potential
problems or other things I should know? (I'm guessing it would be wise to
keep engine running quite often so as not to flatten the battery).

Thanks
