Thanks for the advice, but I really don't have a problem with the profiles, beyond the OS9 bug, which is now behind me thanks to OSX. If anyone wants more info on this bug see Ian Lyons web site:

(N.B. the driver update is on the Australian site, AFAIK Epson UK still don't believe there is a problem).
I have been using Epson printers since the first A4 six colour photo stylus; as soon as the A3 model came out I bought one, and since then have never used a photo print or tear sheet in my book. The quality was different to a photo print, not necessarily worse - but better than the average tear.
The 1270 combined with PS CM was a real breakthrough, and the move to the 2100 (when the 1270 died at 18 months) was as significant. My intention was not to clog this list by laying into Epson, but to find a quick replacement for my printer by following advice from other photographers (rather than salesmen or the rarely critical Mac press).
The current problem: I bought the 2100 on 4/7/2002; about a month ago the nozzles began to clog after every A3 print . I took it to an Epson service centre - after Epson France explained the English idiom 'Call Out' means you call Epson, they tell you where to take your printer out to :-) After 10 days it was ready. I needed to produce five A4 card designs to show to my new agent in Paris. After 9 prints, 10 nozzle cleaning cycles and even more nozzle tests I had managed 4 good prints! I checked the paperwork from the repair centre: They had changed the Matte ink cartridge.
10 days!
The printer went back over a week ago, and still no-one has looked at it. Meanwhile I have 3 books sitting idle at my agency as I have no cards. Not sure what I will do if the printer isn't fixed this time, I feel I have been fighting it for 11 months and it is winning.....
Thanks anyway, William Davies.

I'd concur with David - get some custom profiles built and you should be fine. I have a client who was ready to pitch her 2200 out the window given all the struggles she was having. I convinced her to permit me to build some cutoms profiles for her, and now she's in printing-nirvana.
Contact Neil and the gang - you will wonder why you were struggling for so long.
