Hi Paul,

I'm not sure that is necessarily true. I read somewhere that the drive speed
is dictated by the intensity of the laser. The more powerful it is the
faster the drive can spin, as it takes the beam less time to "burn" the data
onto the laser sensitive medium. I have a 48x burner and have never had a CD
fail - I used to get loads of failures with my old 4x one. That being said
the 48x does sound like the air intake on a Jumbo when it starts writing!

What kind of Mac did you install it into? I'd like to do the same with a DVD
RAM drive I have but am not sure where to get the spring hinged front panel
from - do you know? I have a Quicksilver, the one with the 2 cigar shaped
do-da's on the front.

TIA

Simon.
