Once the images are copied onto CD or transferred via zip or network and

within the finder or desktop on a Mac? I am mainly using OS X, but ideally
it should work in both OS 9 and OS X. Its strange, but if I move files from
the Mac to PC, preview thumbnails are always visible.

I'm not certain if anyone has mentioned this, but just because you have your computer set to view/create icons in the Finder's "Show View Options" menu doesn't mean that the computer you are sending the images to does as well. That computer has to be set the same way.

I have also found that when I open a folder on a CD or ZIP that the preview images don't always come up right away. I've noticed that it seems to take a couple of minutes sometimes for the computer to create the image icons for a CD full of 38 MB images - and all of my systems are pretty fast. This seems to happen both on the desktop and in the "open file" box. If I drag them from the CD to a hard drive, the icons come up right away. I've just assumed that this "phenomenon" was a function of the image size in conjunction with the CD drive's access speed - especially when the CD is at capacity. Perhaps, could this be happening to you?
