Thanks for your detailed reply - just what I wanted and you've practically
made my mind up for me. Can you elaborate on the fading issues when the
prints are not mounted behind glass?

Dear Tom

I can add something to this Canon thread as we have been looking at Canon printers recently and will be ordering a W2200 next week. The printer has the same 4pl droplet size but a lower resolution at 1200x2400, built to a substantial standard hopefully as good as our Epson 5000 (which will be for sale soon if anyone is interested in purchasing this superb machine equipped with special low fade wide gamut inks)

Nick very kindly sent me a couple of prints some weeks ago and we put one up alongside a Kodak RA4 control print. It was subjected to daylight from behind a single glazed west facing window here in the UK. Slight fading was visually apparent after 1-2 weeks and this became quite noticeable after a further couple of weeks effecting the cyan ink. The Kodak control remained unaffected.

A test on BestColor SM paper exposed to continuous light 24/7 from our proofing light cabinet showed almost no change when measured with a Spectro over a three week period. This proofing paper test is what we were particularly interested in as this printer will be mainly used for producing CMYK 'contract' proofs. The stability under these extreme conditions seems to be very satisfactory.

The S9000 prints are excellent incidentally and the i9000 from what I have heard is even better.

Hey, are you the only guy using an S9000/i9100 out there! Would love to
hear other people's comments, or are you trying to keep it a big secret!

Hope this helps to lift the veil a bit! BTW I would be happy to do a full report on the W2200 when we have got the measure of it.....let me know please if you are interested in my posting something here.

Cheers

Richard
