Dear List

This is an update for those of you who are interested in what happened
to Alyson and who were kind enough to allow their names to be used in
her support. Alyson is happy for me to copy what she has just posted
on EPUK. This was following a long phone conversation I had with her
which would not be appropriate for me to go into here.

Your names have been held awaiting the 'right' opportunity to use them,
but please be assured that the fact that you were concerned enough has
been of great support and comfort to her. It also flags up to anyone
who would seek to disadvantage photographers that we do not work in
isolation!

Thanks

Richard

In reference to the case discussed previously regarding my exhibition
and Cavendish Press, I will be taking down the Ian Brown photo by 5
o'clock this afternoon or legal proceedings will ensue.

It has been all quiet on the Western Front.. I know, but there has been
a series of communications between my attourney and their solicitors and
I was also away.

Considering the circumstances although it will be disappointing to take
the photo down, the situation has gone on long enough and has already
caused a lot of stress and has cost me a lot of money in legal letters.
It seems that there is no right in law to be able to show people on
whatever level your work if the copyright belongs to your employer
(although grey in this case).

In a letter of undertaking that CP's solicitors have written for me to
sign and do there is one clause that says:

'It is warranted that I have not made any derogatory statements about
Cavendish Press and/or its employees'

and goes on to say

'That I will not make any derogatory public statements about Cavendish
Press and/or its employees'

Cavendish also want me to pay #500 in legal fees.

The Ian Brown photo was never specifically for sale. There have been no
sales.

I will keep the list informed of any further developments.

I think that this as much as I can say about the situation at the moment
for fear of it being leaked.

I would like to thank everyone who added their name to the list in
support of this situation I find myself in. It has definitely been of
much comfort.
