This is a little late so apologies, I guess you could say I am on the brink of leaving my nice safe software consultant job for a career as a full time photographer. At the ripe old age of 41 I guess a mid-life crisis hit but it's been brewing for years. In the past I had a tiny social photography business in Northampton, nothing more than an experiment really but due to a strange, borderline weird chain of events I have been pulled in the direction of fashion, editorial, and advertising as being an area I'm comfortable with.
Whether the life I am heading towards becomes successful or whether I am about to make the biggest mistake of my life, only time will tell but I am sure it will be interesting. Regarding equipment, I am a Nikon guy, having switched to a D100 last October and figuring that I would mix film and digital but mostly film. Like so many others I discovered that the film bodies seem to be gathering dust these days. I've already seen that there is a massive fund of information here and I'll be quite content to read and digest, at least for now. Thanks everyone.
