Because copyright theft happens does not excuse it, or prevent us taking action to dealing with it.

So the choices are (not withstanding the owners wishes)

a Have an open archive and have copyright pinched, dialogue open for all the world to see and risks of spam.

b Have a protected archive and still have the above but less so.

c Have no archive and have none of the above problems but introduce increased traffic of repeat questions and and reduce some aspects of the usefulness off PRODIG.

d Have an edited archive. But who the hell is going to take that one on? if it is even possible.

There was considerable discussion about the advisability of having an archive prior to its setting it up. I thought it may be time to analyse its effects. I have noticed an increase in spam and repeat questions, understandably, still crop up since the start of the archive. So is the balance right?

By the way I have no problem with announcing to anyone who listens my membership of PRODIG. I believe it to add credibility. That's untill they see the rubbish I write.
