In my experience, depth of field DOES get shortened when using digital cameras. This includes the 35mm SLR models and the medium format digital backs. My reasoning was the smaller sensor size >> focal length multiplier >> making your lens more telephoto>> thus shortening the DoF. However, the 14n has a full frame sensor, so I guess my reasoning is wrong.
