I have had the same experience with the full frame Canon 1Ds. I think 
it it the massively high resolution and lack of noise when compared to 
film. It is something that was probably happening anyway, but we didn't 
often notice, under the film grain. I find at 400+ speeds the noise 
increase makes the experience closer to film.
