Please understand I am in no way trying to undermine the professionalism of our photographers
and am talking expressly about our freelancers and not agents taking snap shots, they are not my concern at present.
Dear Jackie
The above is certainly clear. Your statement must come as something of a relief to many here who thought from your previous postings that a very different scenario was about to be played out.
We are not trying to find a quick, cheap fix, we are top end of the market and want to improve on that, not go the other way.
OK, so what exactly are your terms of reference with regard to this project? If you tell us these, I feel sure there is enough collective knowledge and experience here to provide you with the answers you require. These answers will enable you to move this project forward in a positive way and avoid the many costly potential pitfalls that await you. If you do not 'level' with us, then the information we can provide will be of limited value!
I am just trying to understand the issues and possible costs involved.
Please see above before we can do this.
I will not be passing half baked ideas to them or insisting anyone converts to digi when they are not ready to do so.
Excellent!
I just want to learn what I can in the time I have, and point them in the right direction.
You have a month to get this all together as I understand it from your earlier post...better enlist the services of a competent proven colour management expert to help you through all this. (Neil Barstow would fit the requirement as far as I am concerned) Not cheap but mistakes will certainly cost your company very dear.
Please remember I am at the beginning of the learning curve.
The more you learn about digital imaging the more you will realize how much you still have to learn and spend, spend, spend, that's in money on equipment now and into the future. For anyone changing from supplying transparencies to image files, be it shooting digitally or shooting film and scanning is a very big learning curve. Please don't underestimate what this means to each photographer who has not yet converted. This is a roller coaster that can be a very difficult ride...Neil can provide the seat belts....colour managed of course!
Sorry if I came across as a cowboy.
Perhaps if we take the opening statement of this email of yours as a fresh start?
Big snip
Cheers
