Shangara, I would invite you to download the GC application from the links already posted, since you can test it in full mode. This recent version ( 4.8) has a "Compare " menu that lets you check inmediately two files you want to evaluate. No layers, no drag and drop, just pick two files in the window and GC will run the comaprison. I want to express also that the JPEG 2009 option for saving lossles J2K files using GC is a real good choice against the AdobeCamera Raw which does a pathetic job ( in terms of speed and lack of batch processing) , to use this lossless format at least for back up purposes. I have removed the J2K Plug In from the Adobe thing and installed the free Fnord plugin, only to be able to open the files processed as J2K in Graphic Converter. Typical J2K files are almost double the size of the original Jpeg, but the fact that you will get lossless files is by far a tempting choice to keep data in still small sizes. AS J2k has not yet become a popular format, I would suggest it could be used for personal back ups. > ImageBuddy doesn't save them either :-( You could try printing them to a > PDF file (if you're using OSX) I do this with a lot of things (not images) > However I'm not sure how that will affect colour management etc. I seem to > remember having problems with ImageBuddy, when I went down that route. Worth > a try though. I have not tested ImageBuddym but will give it a try if the app lets me try it, specially if the working conditions seem to resemble so much the GC operation. I had not thought of printing to a PDF file -but it's a good idea- and will test this option ( BTW, I am still in OS9 and the PrintToPDF Extension lets me run the pdf thing without a hitch and with great control), but the PhotoGridX and other OSX utilities, I will try them in the end of the year- begginning of next one , when I get new machines.
