Why does nobody talk about Colorsync any more? (I'm sure the Colorsync list is as busy as ever...)

The Colorsync users list is alive and well but seems to talk about almost everything else apart from Colorsync!
Is this a dead technology for some reason? If I set Colorsync up right with a profiled printer, wouldn't it save me having to do a profile -> profile before a print?
I presume as one who does use it that those who know how do use it and those that don't ...well don't! No good expecting Colorsync to use a profile for your printer if you cannot offer it a good one...that's where N.B. comes in perhaps?
