Dpi for printing an image on a 44 Epson printer, 40" wide? How long is a piece of string?
For a portfolio shot, Or picture that people will look at close up (with their reading glasses on) (e.g. a pic of a town of large group of people), Use 720 dpi if you can - if you would have to interpolate to get it up to this resolution, it may not give you a better result than 360, and this will depend on the quality of the original file, and your interpolation software and technique. If no body will, or will be able to, get within 10 feet (3m) of the pic, 180 might be adequate. What quality does the client want, and what are they prepared to pay? Remember that we must all strive for mediocrity and bull'it the clients until they are happy to pay top rates for rubbish. Printers work best at submultiples of their native or maximum dpi. =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
