Well the good news is that the original problems have finally been tracked down to a faulty hard drive and now I have put in a replacement, reloaded 9.1 the machine is behaving itself!
With the machine stable I have cautiously been installing some limited software and have come to attempting to get it on the network. Everything is duplicated as on our G4 which is fine, however this box is not seen. What I feel is very significant is that the hub indicator light for the connection is not on. It's not the cable because I have already swapped the G4 box lead onto the 9600 .
Checking the Apple system profiler shows the following:
Ethernet built in link n/a speed n/a Duplex n/a
I would appreciate some guidance please anyone?
