I wonder how each machine was set up in terms of ram ,scratch discs, disc type and make etc as these all effect the end speed. I'm not sure that in the PC world that the Xeon processor is really much of an advantage. I opted for a self built Dual AMD system which seems reasonable in speed terms and constantly try new configurations of components to see what difference they make ,its quite addictive in fact I don't even put the covers back on now ! Its good to know that all round speed is being upped in both arenas,we can all take comfort that no matter which system we choose, we will always be spending more money on them than we ever had to do on Camera equipment and on a regular basis.
