Dear Ian,

Funny you should ask that since I was just going to post a note about the
eye 1 display (around 200 ex vat from all over the place). I have had one
for a while now and when I first got it I was pretty underwhelmed. It
matched my Mac and PC screens (both crt) better than I'd ever managed with
Adobe Gamma but the pc screen just looked a bit pink. I contacted Gretag's
tech support and they sent me a "hot fix" which improved things somewhat.
Today I downloaded version Eye-One Match v.2.0.3 and it is better still. I
am now pretty confident that I am looking at a well calibrated screen at
last.

The measuring device is also supported by various other bits of software so
if you dont like eye one match you could always try it with something else,
on which topic I tried out the Fuji Colorkit display module today. It is
pretty basic - brightness is set by the squint at the screen and turn it
down till the cross disappears method and there is no individual adjustment
of the RGB guns. It certainly didn't look like 465 euros worth.

Best Regards,

William Chitham
