This subject is in many aspects simplicity itself. The guy pointing the camera despite all his experience, knowledge and investment is seen by many to be the very last link in the chain. Photographers for the most part are seen as a necessary evil, there to be generally misused and abused by so-called clients. Little wonder then that RF is yet another tool in which to diminish the respectability of the photographer. About time a stance was adopted where nothing is done for nothing. I get approached at least twice a month asking for the free use of images for this and that charity, fund or good cause etc. A couple of times I have willingly agreed only to sit in a meeting with a particular organisations media/ advertising manager at a later date and have my work slated. Everyone is out to make a quick profit, why should photographers be the scapegoat; there again by participating in RF some have made a rod for all our backs.
Solution? Easy really just adopt that great Northern saying "you get nowt for nowt" =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
