I THINK what Mamiya are claiming for these lenses is the EQUIVALENT angle of
view (in 35mm terms) on the 6x7 and 6x4.5 formats respectively.

Image diagonals of formats are as follows:

35mm =43mm
40mm sq=57mm
6x6=79mm
6x7=87mm

So you can work it out for yourself. A 43mm Lens on 6x7 gives a diagonal
angle of view of around the same as a 25mm on 35mm format but on a 36x24
chip it behaves, not unsurprisingly, rather like a... ermm... 43mm lens.

Still, 26mm on a 36x24 chip is not bad - just like a 26 on 35mm film.

Rumours are that they're not out until the new year anyhow.

One of the new 5000x4000 22MP sensors, being bigger than anything previously
around begins to give us old RZ owners hope for hanging on to our hardly
used RZ kit. However for the forseeable future 6x4.5 looks like the way to
go. A Mamiya 645 with the new 26mm and a 22MP sensor begins to look like a
really good wide angle option - at last!

Cheers,

Alan
