LaCie have posted a patch at http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers/
to overcome the problem for those of us with d2 or big disks. I've downloaded the file but am not confident to install 10.3 until I've heard reassuring noises from other users and on the Apple OSX webpage where a strong warning has been posted.
Apparently many have lost date and found it impossible to recover and since I store and archive each image on 2 Lacie 800 Firewire drives am running scared at the moment.
Apple are planning to update the situation on http://www.apple.com/macosx/ so perhaps it's best to keep a look out there,
Best wishes,
