I downloaded the LaCie firmware update a few days ago and then successfully installed 10.3. However what I thought was a firewire 800 drive proved to be a 400, a fact brought to my attention by the installer before it decided not to install the firmware.

10.3 updated perfectly well and has proved to be a more stable environment for me so far. All of my programs are working as before and the disk is still playing.

Boy was I nervous though!

Regards,
Jason.

Just found out from apple Tech support that firmware update 1.05 sorts out the Panther bug that destroys hard discs.

Does it? Has anyone tried it? Successfully? And is it true, as Apple claims, that it only affects firewire 800 hard discs?

Any info gratefully received before I take the irrevocable step.....
