Having lurked for a few days it's time to do the intro thing. I am just beginning to get into a digital workflow, both capture and scanning. Expect a few naive questions. Here's one for starters, recently to my horror, I have found data missing in horizontal bands, ranging from 1pixel wide up to 50 (sometimes in the Red channel, sometimes just blue channel), from a number of RGB tiffs that have been saved, without any compression after minor editing in PS.Having run various disc doctors to check my HD, which seems to be ok, Adobe support sent me a long document detailing all kinds of possible causes, not least the need to upgrade to 10.2.8, and install a patch from Adobe to give me PS 7.0.1 (?)these I have now done, but I would like to find out why this might have occurred so I can prevent it happening again.

P.S. The original files were from a variety of sources, so the problem is definitely on my system.
