Most of the suppliers haven't a clue about the difference between rgb and cmyk otherwise they would have supplied me with cmyk files, right?

Dear Ron

For my money you should take their RGB files with a very big sigh of relief that you have some control/room for manoeuvre left in what sounds like a bit of a nightmare scenario<BG>

They certainly haven't heard of out of gamut colours and may wonder why their images with all those screaming oranges, purples and lime greens don't appear in print they way they did on their computer screens.

What's the betting that what they saw on their computer screens bears little resemblance if any to what the files actually are like.

But with deadlines looming, I think I'll revert to my quick and dirty Photoshop conversion practice. By the time the job comes round again next year I hope, with the help of PRODIG members, I'll be more colour management savvy!

On a job like this you need good scatter proofs from a contract proofer you can rely on to be able to replicate the printing press/paper combination. There are sure to be difficulties you will want to catch before the ink hits the paper or the **** hits the fan!

Cheers

Richard
