To update, haven't been able to determine yet why my printer was unable to open my file. I intend to explore this with him later armed with some of the ideas you have put forward. Just to re-cap, this was a case where both the printer and I were using Macs, I used Aladdin Dropstuff before emailing the file and the printer was using Aladdin Expander to try and open it. Should be perfectly straight forward. I'll let you know the outcome.
