Rick, I specialise in architectural photography. Let me use an example of a shot of a house. Taking a RAW file and converting using Fuji EX 2.0 and PS CS, both without any sharpening (I do that at the end), 16-bit TIFF file, and viewing at 100%, the difference is noticeable when looking at, say, the lattice work in a window. The Fuji image is crisper and has more bite to it. It therefore needs less USM with its inherent artefacts later.
