I've tried searching the archive, but can find very little on this subject. Is anyone using the S2 in tethered mode on location? I've had mine fifteen months with no problems at all and lots of successful pics (in a March magazine feature they've used one of my S2 shots whole page, full bleed, and I can't see any quality difference from my 6x8 tranny shots on adjacent pages) but tethered is something I haven't tried.
Hi Tony,
I sometimes use the S2 tethered to a mac laptop usually in the studio, occasionally on location. It's very useful when working with nervous art directors and better received than any Polaroid!
I'm not sure of any other software that supports the S2 (maybe Bibble). The Fuji software works ok...at least it doesn't crash too often. I usually save to the hard drive and then do any raw conversions /manipulation in photoshop later. I also use the firewire cable rather than the usb.......I have found the cable length a bit short at times but I'm sure it is possible to get longer lengths if needed.
I agree with you about the quality, did a shoot for Country homes & Interiors (appeared last March) all on the S2...couldn't see any difference in printed quality!
Related to this, what success have you had in having S2 files written onto tranny film? Have clients accepted them, knowingly or not, and has repro proved wholly satisfactory?
Only done this once (from the S1) no problems (used a company called 'imagecare' in Kingston-upon-Thames) appeared in a full page magazine ad.
Hope this info helps a bit.
Cheers
Rob
