I'm always impressed by how digital cameras handle difficult lighting situations, and often get good detail in shadows where pushed film would not. I'd have thought shooting digital preferable to film on a live gig. I shot digital at Glastonbury last year, and I think it has many advantages over film, not least being able to see if you got it right! By all means, run a roll of black and white for old time's sake and for 'art', but my money's on digital - especially so if there's bugger-all budget for your costs.
