I have seen the vertical lines (occasionally) and I have associated it with oversharpening. That is to say I think it is there sometimes very faintly but have only really noticed it in very sharpened files, which exaggerates the effect. << David, there are some high pass filter and extreme USM settings and or equalize and or other methods to help see what 'flaws' an image contains in Photoshop, as well as looking at individual channels in the source space and or LAB AB channels . Those with Binuscan PhotoRetouchPro could perhaps comment on the 'B-Xray' or whatever it is called. I have considered this feature to be more marketing hype than useful (granted I have not used PRP), but with this thread about flaws in a file which become more noticeable once editing takes place, it may be worth looking into, or perhaps a helpful list member who has PRP looking at the files.
