Naughty Canon, they deserve a smacked bottom. They know exactly the same problem from me and Matt Antrobus at the very least, and there may be others.
Are you SURE the fault it is new, because I think mine has always done it - if it has developed then that is very interesting. I am currently awaiting a verdict after a sensor swap, and some internal electronics replaced, failed to make any difference at all. They are not keen to do anything about it, and are hoping I will go away, I think.
I can't add anything useful I'm afraid. If it is really a problem you can't live with, hassle them relentlessly, get the (probably pointless) repairs done, then shout loud for a replacement. However there does seem to be a growing consensus that they all suffer from this problem to some degree, so until there is a change of spec on the camera, any replacement may have the problem.
all the best

Hello all...
I have been shooting with a 1ds for just over a year now, mostly use C1 pro to process raw files, then tweak in PS 7.
Last friday i suddenly noticed red/magenta horizontal bands ( noise ) in the dark tonal areas of a shot...... re processed it in PS raw - same thing, even the corresponding jpeg has the same bands. They do stretch across the entire image but disappear over the light/midtones, if i push the levels right up you can see them more obviously, but in the darker tones they are more than apparent!
I have checked a couple of files from a month ago or so......they are there!! not so obviously - lighter shots! Checked a file from 6 months ago quite a dark shot and they are not visible anywhere.
Is my lovely 1ds ( which i have not been able to fault at all ) suffering some digital illness which is slowly effecting the sensor?!
I remember a couple of weeks ago, some people had similar problems.......did they get any where with canon? Canon informed me on friday that they had never heard of the problem..surprise , surprise.
If anyone has any info it would be gratefully received
thanks in advance
