I'm new to the site so a few words... I'm a London based photographer
shooting interiors and people. I've just bought a 1Ds which has been
great to work with so far.

I'm looking at Fred Miranda's plug-ins, in particular the Stair
Interpolation Pro (to up-res), the Web Presenter Pro (to de-res) and
the 1Ds CSpro (to sharpen 1Ds files).

Is there a better choice or am I better off just using my own actions
and droplets from CS?

If you are using Photoshop CS, then the stair stepping method is not as necessary in this version. First, there is improved interpolation up and down using the Camera Raw file size output options. Secondly, improved Bicubic interpolation in the program itself. For large interpolation jumps, try Bicubic Smoother to increase in size and Bicubic Sharpen to reduce in size. I haven't tried the 1Ds CSpro sharpener, so can't comment, but I would recommend you take a look at a demo of PhotoKit Sharpener, and compare results: http://www.pixelgenius.com/sharpener/index.html which Bruce Fraser worked on - the Digital High Res capture sharpening routines are designed with the 1Ds in mind.
