Simon, My first impression of the Eizo L985 EX was how small it was ! The black finish makes it look so Its heavy and feels very solid. swings through 90 degrees for upright shots to be worked on. out of the box there was a problem when connected with the DVI cable to a Radeon graphics card. Using one of the 2 alternative type of cables cured the problem but meant I was using the VGA signal. moving the monitor to another computer with the same cable presented no problems so im stumping up for an MSI graphics card as in the OK PC to compliment the Msi Dual Athlon board in the workstation. It never ends does it. The picture is wonderful Even from corner to corner. All lines are straight even on the extreme edge of the screen. I have profiled it with the monitor Spyder. there seems to me to be good gradation from deep shadows through to highlights with no areas that do not look as they should. For me a huge bonus is that Ive not had to wear my reading glasses to work with it,I can not tell you why but its a fact. I'm using a 350 Liteon 19" LCD on this office machine and have found the same thing. Type is clear and there is no screen glare. I will be buying a 17" LCD to hang on the wall for the Photoshop pallets to sit on and then get the full benefit from the Eizo 21.3" I looked at a 17"CRT monitor on my scanning set up this morning and by comparison it was fuzzy ,the type around the icons difficult to read without glasses. Its got to go I hope my opinion is of value. Regards Michael Wilkinson. 106 Holyhead Rd, Ketley, Telford, Shropshire.
