It is fine with Mac OS X. I use it and the latest driver is fine. The original one was a bit crash happy. Chances are unless you are a real UNIX guru you won't have formatted your disk as UFS anyway, so all will be fine. In fact those UNIX gurus who did format their drives as UFS quickly regretted it and swapped back to HFS+.
The only annoying thing with the driver that i have found is that it keeps warning you if you scan in 16bit. There is a checkbox to not show the message again, but the driver ignores the setting!
