Hi,
Thank you all for your help and suggestions on and off list.

Hardware:

Some suggestions were whether the mouse itself was faulty. I tried using the
mouse on different surfaces with no change. I tried relocating the USB
connections and examined the cables with no sign of damage. I had no other
mouse to try and as was subsequently shown, the problem was software.

The Erratic Cursor behaviour was cured when Mac OSX 10.3 was reinstalled and
reoccurred on install of the 10.3.2 updater.

The eventual solution was to reinstall 10.3 and then use the 10.3.3 combo
updater (downloaded to the desktop via a browser).
The downside of the Archive and install option means that I am still finding
software which needs some attention to work again.

Thank you to the list for the continued fund of knowledge, support and
humour.

Snowy
