The auto WB is useful when processing quick previews and when the client is looking over your shoulder.
I totally agree with this for most short shoot situations, commercial, landscape etc etc but if you are shooting events, model portraits or God forbid, weddings, then in my opinion, so far anyway, jpeg is still the way to go for speed / quality compromise.
These are exactly the situations I would say RAW is essential and Jpg a liability. The only reason I can see for shooting Jpg is lack of CF memory. With Capture One the workflow is pretty much as quick as a jpg would be but hugely more flexible.
If anyone has a way of batch converting say 300 varied condition portrait RAW files into quality review jpegs, I'd be very interested to know how.
Capture One, it's by no means perfect but the software from Canon and Nikon is an insult.
